Problem Statement

Key industry knowledge was owned by an older demographic slowly phasing out of the workforce. This meant their replacements required a significant amount of training in order to keep their process running optimally. 

Objectives & Goals

  • Decrease issue resolution time

  • Inform users of root cause

  • Create intuitive data visualize

Output

This was a lot fun! I spent a week onsite at a mine in Australia getting first hand experience on the day to day.

 

Implementing Design Thinking throughout the course of this 2 year project, I designed an entire platform to be used in mining, rail and manufacturing industries. I was embedded into an established design team with a comprehensive design system.

Through research, it was determined several new components were required in order to create the intuitive experience desired.  After several prototypes and some user testing along with internal validation from multiple teams, they were successfully added to the Design System.

Ultimately, the platform was able to eliminate the need for legacy knowledge currently only possessed by seasoned operators as well as provide data backed, actionable insights that led to an increase of throughput of the mine's processing plant.
